Sergio, Please don't read this: I need to arr. something I don't want you to see.

If you're reading this, Serge, you're a naughty guitarist who deserves rusty strings! Get out of here now!

Guys, Coyotes Gator came up with the idea, and I've made up a little congratulations card for Sergio, and I'm looking into ways we can all add a digital signature to it. It has him with one love on the left (Strat since, well, Fender) and the other on the right and says "We wish you three love, happiness, and music, from your friends at TFF.

I can edit any of this.

I'd also like to arrange a gift for him--because of duties, maybe I can find out the Brazilian equivalent of Sweetwater and buy him a gift certificate. I'll be glad to buy him the gift card, and others can chip in--maybe we could do a kind of private go fund me? Someone else is welcome to get the money sent to their account and buy it.

I'm working on that right now. I've been having a conversation with another member that has found out that it's custom to buy kitchen things for a marrying couple.

Of course, we have no idea of what they need, but I'm going to ask Sergio if they have a registry at some store. I'd be doing something for him privately anyway, so it won't be a strange thing. Of course he's going to suspect, but he told me he hasn't read these messages.

Even if it's not a total surprise to him, I know he'll be touched with even the smallest of gestures.

vinyl and I were discussing gifts, and he rightly said that we ought to give them cash. Sergio has been going through some rough economic times, and money would help them out.

Do any of you know a way to transfer funds internationally without a shit ton of fees?

Short of unmarked bills in a plain brown envelope, no.

I admire, respect, and appreciate Sergio's posts here. Even if or when we don't agree. First off, I wanted to do something for Sergio and his bride, not just Sergio. Based on Sergio's posts, and his love for cooking, I'd be surprised if he or his bride need much in the way of kitchen equipment.

I don't claim to know anything about Sergio's financial situation, but I thought helping him to pay for a honeymoon or anything else they need would be the most helpful. Granted, that's not easy to accomplish.

The 2 customs about Brazilian weddings I could find were helping with kitchen appliances and during the wedding, the groom's tie gets cut up and the pieces get auctioned off to help pay for the honeymoon.

I don't know how traditional Sergio is, but I thought it would be better to err on the side of traditional out of respect to Sergio and not be a typical American. In spite of some of my posts, I like this forum. I wouldn't mind if it became a little more "international".

As far as a "shitload" of money, Western Union charges as litlle as $4.00 per $100.00. While that's a lot, it's far less than trying to hire someone trustworthy to hand Sergio a hundred bucks worth of Brazilian Real in a plain brown envelope. I'm guessing it might be possible to pay less.

Well, I tried my best to hold back and not read this thread. But couldn't help it and already apologized to Willie on our Facebook chat.

First, I can't thank you all enough for such a touching gesture and for your friendship. As I usually say, TFF is my home regarding guitar forums and I hold everyone here dear. I really appreciate it, guys.

But I must say that even though your gesture is beautiful and noble, as a matter of fact I wouldn't feel comfortable if any of you spent any amount of money, although I know it would be a generous initiative. Truly: the greatest wedding gift I could ever receive is the care you've shown in this thread, that's more than enough!

Since Willie and Vinyl (Bill) were wondering about how they could find out what'd make me happy, I think I should tell you here, since I've read the thread anyway: Postcards, either virtual or physical ones. I'd frame them all together and hang them on the wall in my man cave. I wouldn't be happier with anything else, regardless of value.

I was a bit late to the party, having registered here in 2014, about Christmas time, right after purchasing Jessica (my black Stratocaster), but yet I feel I'm a true TFF family member (even Chuck seems to tolerate me! ), and that's the best gift.

Thank you all, straight from the heart!
