    Dating a vintage Mustang

I just purchased a vintage Mustang off Facebook marketplace. The neck is stamped October 1965, which seems correct. The neck plate has serial number L14825 ... which I believe is earlier than 1965.

I purchased from a guy who received it in the early 1970s from a relative. I don't believe there would have been any reason to swap out the neck plate.

Any thoughts on the production date of this guitar?

That's a couple of years early, but those neckplates were pulled out of boxes and put on guitars without respect to date, so I suppose it could happen.

If I were going to date any guitar, it would be a Stratocaster!

I dated a Steinberger, but she didn't have much of a body.

I've become a bit vintage myself. Do you think a Mustang would date me?

I wanna be best man. Bachelor party is a 30 guitar jam of Trower's In City Dreams. And lots of apple juice because I like apple juice.
