    ByeBye AmPro Mach I

I don't know if we've mentioned this on these pages, but Fender is phasing out the AmPro line. Dealers are selling off what they can. I know that SW no longer offers any American Pro Telecasters and Pro Basses--for lefties.

I haven't heard whether Fender is doing a relaunch of the AmPro or whether they're going to market a new name.

I've found this on other forums - the revised models are due out in October; the name is going to stay American Professional (so these will be AmPro v2s). This is from people getting leaked info from their local mom & pop dealers - the changes will be more than just a new set of colors, but they aren't saying more than the name staying the same and new colors. Speculation is new pickups (Fender always changes the pickups when they revise a model); since the name is staying the same the expectation is the neck shape will stay the same. Outside of that some guesses are that the frets might go back to medium jumbos, but it's all speculation. Maybe there will be more leaks as we get closer to the October introduction date, but Fender did keep the details on the American Ultras under wraps until they were officially released last November.

Hey, thanks for the info. They'd be silly to change the name from AmPro anyway at this point. If they put out any interesting lefty basses, I'd think about it. They haven't offered a lefty standard American maple fb bass in a long time. We lefties can only hope for something significant--an AmPro lefty fretless or 5 string would make me check my wallet.
