2012 Gibson LP Trad and Vox

I recently saw a vid of Clapton playing a balls out version of Tore Down--with a Les Paul. It sounded great and inspired me to sling mine.

It sounds great through my DRRI, but it really shines through the Vox AC30. I got lost for an hour with it yesterday because I was enjoying it so much. The LP isn't my go to, but when I do go to it, it never disappoints.

I was a bit surprised that the Vox and the Gibson pair so well. Wouldn't a thunk it.

I think Clapton & Beck and maybe Richards and Page used Voxes with their Les Pauls before using Marshalls.

    i think you're right.

It's always a joy when you get a great sound you didn't expect. I think I'll be giving the Les Paul more playing time now.

It's funny how some amps/guitar combinations just work. When my wife gave me my Gary Moore LP she also got me a Marshall AVT 100 - tube preamp and SS amp. It just never did it for me. I finally got a DRRI that blew it away. Fast forward a few years and I picked up an LP Traditional Goldtop with P-90s (a Guitar Center special). THAT guitar sounds so good through the Marshall - you just never know...

    It makes sense, GJ.

The LP sounds great on the DRRI, but it lacks the definition that the Vox has with that particular guitar. Otherwise, the Fenders and Ric sound as good through the DRRI as they do through the Vox.
