Fender 60’s reissue MIJ Strat ST62-TX.

I’m a new boy and this is my first post and request for help.
I have bought, from e-bay, a Fender 60’s reissue MIJ Strat ST62-TX.

It was described as a rare import only made for the Japanese market, with Alder Body and USA Texas Pickups. The serial number is T027250 This serial number is unrecognised on the Guitar Data Project but Guitarinsite dates it as 1994 or 1995 made by Fuji-gen Japan.

I’m familiar with original Strats having once owned a 61 original and have owned a USA Vintage 57 reissue bought new in 1988, but I no practical experience of Japanese built Strats or how to authenticate this guitar when I pick up and pay for it in a few days time.

A few pointers on how to check that its genuine would be appreciated.

Have you tried Fender's serial number lookup? You can find it here

Thanks for the reply The site says it a Fender Bass Guitar. But then again it says my 88 57 USA Reissue is a SQ Venus R/W 3TS W/GB which deffinatly isn't.

If it's Made In Japan it's a 94 or 95,if it's Crafted In Japan it's an 07 or 08. Two different factories. After you get it more than likely you'll have to pull the pick guard and look to see what's in there. Texas Specials in Fender Japan Strats won't have the CS sticker on them but do have the Yellow Lead for the middle pickup, usually one of the poles will be red on the bridge pup and blue on the neck pup and there's a red or orange round sticker on the back of the guard as well. If your ok with taking the neck off if it is a TX model it will be stamped ST 62 TX in the pocket.
