as I was waiting for my dinner at the outside seating last night, a young guy walked by towing what looked like a rolling suitcase such as you see in airports, subways and bus terminals. Except he really didn't look the type. I also noticed an aural assault at the same time. At first I attributed it to a vehicle passing by except the sound was coming from the sidewalk.
Then I noticed the suitcase was in fact a powered speaker, with a luminous blue ring. If I didn't know any better, I believe it was a blue tooth sub woofer. Shades of the battery powered boomboxes the gang bangers used to carry around 30 years ago.
Then it occurred to me that I have seen a similar device recently (or even the same guy) before. At the risk of sounding like I'm yelling at the clouds, is this now a "thing"? Because it was pretty damn obnoxious. Cars at least are usually come and gone, if traffic is moving. A pedestrian is a lot slower and this thing was pretty freaking loud.
yeah, I know. I'm old.
