    Hagstrom Fantomen

When I was young, the name Hagstrom was familiar as one of the known brands of guitar makers. I haven't heard much about them lately. Today's Musician's Friend's Stupid Deal of the Day is this odd (but oddly attractive) Hagstrom Fantomen Exclusive, white with gold hardware (Fantomen is Swedish for "phantom," and this is the guitar used by the lead player in the group Ghoul).

At some point, Lennon played a Framus 12 string "Hootenanny"

Your thread reminded me of a Brazilian band called The Baggios, the guitarist plays a very cool red Hagstrom Viking:

That's Ghost is the band - aside from the singer, the musicians are known as Nameless Ghouls.

I remember the local Want Advertiser paper often having Hagstrom Swedes listed, though I've never played one.

I think there's a big difference between the ones manufactured in Germany / Czechoslovakia, which ended production in 1975 and the ones made today.

I was also surprised that they were made there.
