https://www.fender.com/ shows different color of the guitar

    Hi folks!

I wanna buy a standard Stratocaster. The guitar isn't new. I checked the serial number on https://www.fender.com/product-regis.../serial-search , the site identified the model correctly, but the color of the body is different! The official website shows white, but the person who sells the guitar uploaded pictures with the sunburst color. I'm concerned that the instrument could be fake

Has anyone seen something similar? Is there a chance that the guitar is genuine?

I checked a couple of more used guitars. Sometimes, fender.com shows correct colors, sometimes doesn't, and there are cases when it doesn't show any guitar pictures at all, but it always identifies models correctly.

    P.S. Serial number is - Z6028690

When a modern Fender guitar has a different body color than the records they keep, it's usually a partscaster. The original neck on a different body.

Well, this guitar is about 12-13 years old. Is it modern enough?

So basically, you're saying that the guitar is most likely isn't original? Like, someone broke down the original body, took the neck, and bolt it to the other body?

Is there any chance that there was a mistake at the factory? I mean, the worker took the original neck and original body, but just mixed up the colors.

If this somehow helps, the info from serial number:
Production year: 2006 or early 2007
    Made in Corona, USA

I think that it's possible that your guitar came from a special run, where they made a limited number of guitars for, say, Sweetwater or Musician's Friend. Over the years, I've seen more than one person try to find their model when it was a special run.

Guys, am I wrong on this? I am not 100% sure of this answer, but I think so.

Yes, the serial number shows an American Standard/Series from that era. It is what we’d call a modern era Fender.

anything can happen but as far as I know, by talking to Fender employees, they do keep an accurate record on these guitars. I once gave my own serial to them for other reasons and they returned all the info on the guitar, even the case model that came with it.

mistakes could happen but not likely.

no, I am not saying the guitar is non original, I’d have to see it and contact Fender about it (you can do that via email), but there is a possibility that the neck and body didn’t leave the factory together.

@Willie: it could, yes. It’s also a possibility. But I have not seen this situation myself.

I did a search to find out about FSRs, and this is what I found out and comes from Fender.

    Fender Special Run
"FSR" stands for Fender Special Run. These products are specially commissioned by individual dealers and built to their specifications. As they aren't regular production models, FSR instruments and amps aren't generally available to every dealer, and Fender seldom provide specs or listings for them on its website.
