    Happy Mother's Day Sunday Thread

Good morning - can't believe I won the Sunday thread lottery! Going to try a family social distance picnic this afternoon. My son is friends with a guy who owns a trout camp on the Shetucket River in Franklin and we will catch some fish and eat some hot dogs and burgers. My daughter in law just got officially laid off from Foxwoods after being furloughed for the last 49 days. My son, the electrician, quit his job a month ago because the idiots he was working with were just plain juvenile. They would take turns spitting at each other and making a big joke of COVID 19. He wasn't going to work with idiots like that. His boss respected him enough to write it up so he could collect unemployment. They'll be OK. He can get a job whenever he wants to go back. She will be one of the first to be rehired when the Casino reopens.

Later today I'll call my birth mother and wish her a happy mother's day. It will be the first one since we found each other. Should be fun.

A lot of Connecticut had snow yesterday - we didn't, but people all around us did. Today should make it back up to 60, so it will be decent trout weather.

Good luck everybody - stay well!

I've had a really great weekend. Anxiety levels are low, and I had such a great time yesterday visiting with my kids. Yesterday, I turned 58, and my kids made it as special for me as possible. We gave air hugs. My daughter works in a pharmacy in Memphis, which has a high number of those infected. She doesn't want to take a chance on giving it to me. The weather was perfect. One of the loveliest birthdays yet.

Good morning! I'm a little more down than I thought I'd be today. It's Mothers Day, and I won't be able to spend it with my daughter and her family because of the creeping crud. I'd be a little less blue about it if I'd get an acknowledgment to my emails and text messages. Well, I'll call today and hope she answers so I can wish her the best.

This coming week will be another, but shorter, turn in the can. I have another training to do, and the powers that be can't get their act together on whether it should be two days or three. I shouldn't care, but I'm the face of the company to the attendees, so I have to act as if everything is built, sorted, and well tested. If they only knew...

    Happy Mothers Day to all.

OS, my daughter is hard to reach sometimes. My son and I both get frustrated about trying to communicate with her. It used to hurt my feelings, but I realized that she still loves me as much; she's just not the communicative type. I know you feel sad about it, but just know that she loves you. At least that's what I gather from what you've posted about your family.

My granddaughter left yesterday, sure is quiet around the house now. While she was here, I worked on the A/C in her car, ought to be a more comfortable ride back!
My brother in law broke his kneecap while we were at the other brother in laws birthday get together Tuesday. I smoked a roast for them yesterday, and he said if the swelling goes down, they'll operate on Monday. I really don't understand why all my (younger) brother in laws are so fragile.

It snowed here yesterday. Not enough to stick to the ground but the were moments where it was heavy and blowing sideways. Then it was cold, partly cloudy and really windy. We've been getting almost weekly windstorms here. Weird.

We're going to have a zoom call with my mother, sister, brother and daughter at 2pm. I got my mother set up last night. My daughter could really use it- she's been alone 3000 miles away in Oregon through all this.

Thanks, Willie. The right words at the right time. I appreciate it.

we're going to attempt some sort of video call today but based on our testing yesterday I'm not predicting much chance of success. The facility can only spare 10 minutes per patient.

Doing some painting (well, not so much me "yeah, let's make the blind guy paint, that'll work great") but my brother, his estranged wife and my nephew are there now. I'm going to go check it out in a few. Still in the morning mode of coffee and computer.

*edit* got intercepted during coffee run, ended up leaving before finishing post. Anyhow, we were successful in getting all the people with FaceTime and iPhones to do a video call. Showed my mom my cat and she goes "Oh, it's a kitty!!" Showed her the view out our window and she goes "Oh, I see water." She was more cognizant than I've seen her in a while but very sleepy. My god, did she look old and frail. You can definitely tell the hairdresser hasn't been there in 2 months.

Texted with my older sister in NYC afterwards, showed her my windowsill where the cat and I hang out in the morning, the view from my apartment, through the 8 foot windows. It's not quite the 21st floor penthouse looking at up the 55 story buildings 2 blocks away but it's my city. My phone takes decent pictures but I wish I had a real camera that was't a PITA to get pictures into my computer. I want to document a year in downtown, even if the early blossoms are already fallen off, I got a few pics.
