Keith Richards playing a strat in '72?

I am reading a book on the Stones' '72 US tour. Fascinating info. But one thing is making me curious. There are several pics of Keef playing a sunburst Stratocaster, which isn't exactly his particular cup of tea. He's been playing a wide range of different guitars, Teles, Les Paul Jrs, hollow bodied Gibsons... He doesn't seem to go for Strats or Les Pauls much, though.

Does anybody know if he used the strat thoroughly through the 72 tour or was it just a guitar for one or two songs?

Good Lord, it's even got six strings on it!

He was known to play a '59 burst with a bigsby and he shared a non-bigsby one with Mick Taylor. He also had a '57 triple pickup Black Beauty.

He was more often seen with a Gibson than a Fender, especially before a lot of his guitars were stolen during the Exile sessions.

While researching further, it seems that he used strats quite often in the early 70s, or at least throughout that tour. In the first picture it's possible to see that the guitar has only 5 strings on and has a capo on, which probably means it's tuned in open G or open E, and here's Keith playing Brown Sugar with no capo, and judging by the chords he's making, it could be set in standard tuning (I play the rhythm parts of this song exactly as he's doing, in EADGBE, plus lead fills).

Serge, I think if you'll look it up, you'll find that Keef switched to Fenders after his Gibsons were stolen while recording Exile in the French Riviera.
