    The Modern Strat Cowboy Thread

    Ok, boys: this is TFF's Stratocaster area, and the thread title is self-explaining, so let's hear those strats ROAR.

    Share awesome Strat performances by dudes who are out there keeping the tubes warm!

    I'll allow myself to illustrate the thread with a pic of Jessica, if y'all don't mind... She looks damned sexy when she's doin' the job live.

    Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil. A ton of gain. I didn't know these guys until recently, they ROCK.

    Another pretty good one, Matthew Curry. This boy has an immaculately clean strat tone.

    Philip Sayce is also a very good strat slinger. He plays a bit too fast to my own taste but that's just me.

    I love the obvious Strat heroes, but I also like simple and melodic. We've been digging Roland O's Strat work here.

    Let's see....Cowboy? Strat?

    Let me offer up some legendary Eric Johnson - Austin, TX legend.

    "...pray do not imagine that those who make the noise are the only inhabitants of the field;
    that, of course, they are many in number; or that, after all, they are other than the little,
    shriveled, meagre, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour."

    I love Eric Johnson. The album that got me into him was Venus Isle--the instrumentals on that album are both beautiful and meaty. I've got to listen to that NOW.

    Though he's not exactly a 100% strat guy, I'd like to mention my fellow countryman (though L.A. based) Art Menezes:

    Wow, he's got some Hendrix-type fingers on him! I'm always envious of guitar players with wide-ranging fingers. I'm cursed with small, thin hands, so a five-fret stretch is a bit much for me.

    Can't forget Eric Gales playing Jimi Hendrix/Albert King-style with the RH guitar flipped over like Hendrix and the thin strings on top like King. He literally plays a right handed guitar flipped over for a lefty with no other changes. He could play it perfectly, then hand it to a right-handed player and them play it, too.
