70's Telecaster, what do I have to look for to identify such guitar?

    Hi guys.

I've been offered a trade for my Gibson Les Paul, with what supposely should be a 1972 Fender Telecaster. The seller says that it's all original but I dont know what to look out for, so I really need some help on this.
He says that it says 3 Aug72B at the bottom of the neck and that the neckplate has a large F logo with the numbers 370691.
The headsstock says Fender with thick black letters as seen on the Telecaster custom models, but the Telecaster script has been sanded of. (This one also has a singlecoil at the bridge and the wellknown slimmer neck PU.
Other than removal of the Telecaster logo it should be original with the original paint and all, but is there anyway I can check further to verify that it's originally from 1972?
Any other info would also be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards
    Torben

Try typing 73 Tele in the search box here.
    I had it in 2009 .
they had squared off machine heads and a higher slightly different body shape at that time.
