    Bio of The Who?

I've just read the coffee table book sanctioned by Towshend and Daltrey. Disappointing read--more of a gushy piece of a super fan than an informative and studied account.

So do any of you know of a really good biography of The Who?

I always find arrest reports an interesting and informative read.

And by the way, I was part of a multi-jurisdictional pedophile investigation team in North Texas. We even busted mall Santas for child abuse. I can still spot a pedophile a block away. Pete's full of shit when he proclaims his so called innocence. And that's my final word on the matter.

Townshend said it was research. I believe him. Old Ranger, you ludite. I'm sick of you. You bait me all the time, and I'm gone from this forum

It's been nice to know the rest of you. Call it pouting if you want, but I'm tired of the posts lately about how great shitty guitars and amps are and how bad technology is.

I really am fond of most of you, and I'll miss the interaction. I've been here since 2008, but I'm out of here.

C'mon Willie, we used to get much livelier discussions here, and someone was always getting their panties in a twist, so what!
I was threatened banning more than once for quoting passages from the koran in response to some of the discussions then. Some old timers like Cygnus E-Mailed me, and asked that I not ruffle the mods feathers anymore, so they wouldn't ban me, and I'm still checking in. Others like Phantom man just quit, and I miss his commentary here!
If you leave, we'll miss you too!

Well, that was creepier than intended.

Seriously, we’re the ones who lose without you.

Heck, I don’t even hold it against you for not being a Hemingway fan!

Holy cow boys! Guess I'm the boogieman and didn't know it. Never took aim at the lad. Wow.
Reckon I should pack my shitty stuff and vamoose as well to allow the SJW's and snowflakes to move forward. I must be way too conservative for this forum. Funny, if I had a hard on for smacking someone here, I'd flat out say so. I was trying to point low budget angles, but obviously brand snobbery and cork sniffing took presidencies here. Sorry boys, I exist on a police pension that's 6% above the national average of poverty.
Yup, I'd better vamoose as well unless I upset someone else. I'm better off with firearms and such that playing worn out stuff on "shifty guitars and amps".
    Adios vatos!

    Ah come on man!

    Really?

There are enough nut kicks in life without fighting with our imaginary friends.

The things that that bind us and brought us together still apply.

Not it the least including love of making music.

There is no need for attacks and generalizations here.

I kindly ask both of you to take a deep breath and relax before leaving the forum...

You both are very good men, I happen to consider both as my friends, outside Internet forums.

And judging from a viewer’s angle, I can tell this was just a BIG misunderstanding.

I don’t think Old Ranger meant to attack anyone, nor is Willie a whiner or a real cork sniffer.

My suggestion: let’s not get all William Foster on each other.

    Peace, friends.

Agree 100% Sergio. They are both good dudes. Unfortunately, misunderstandings happen... We just learn to deal with them. Please boys, don't go anywhere!

    Re: Bio of The Who?

Ok gents, here it is. I'm not called Old Ranger for nuthin. IF I wanted to pick a fight, I'd go straight for the throat and choke my opponent to the ground. I was attempting to give Willie a cost effective idea for a semi-hollowbody. I didn't know that his idea was far more costly than mine. And the business of pedophile investigation, well, I must've stuck a nerve with someone's hero, and pissed somebody off. Oh well, that's too bad. Yea, I've had REAL Fenders, Gibson's, and others when I was in the business. Now I don't... But I don't give a shit. I clearly see that I don't belong here. I'm not rich enough to afford the "correct instruments" nor "tube amplifiers" and thus seen as trailertrash. Ok. Fine by me. From age 17 until 56, I wore a uniform defending my country and protecting citizens from criminal elements. Shot, stabbed, and run over by pukes that ravaged out streets. Right now, I wished I went into computer sales and made a bundle! But I'm a troglodyte or some such word. Lucite? Was that it? Screw it. I'm a Lakota, same bunch that whacked Custer. And Pete's still a pervert!

Assuming this thread hasn't gone completely south, Dave Marsh's 1983 book, Before I Get Old is an extremely readable look at the band's days up to and including "their first farewell tour." (I saw them on it at Philadelphia's now-demolished JFK Stadium.) I found Townshend's recent autobiography disappointing not least because he's always aspired to be an author (including his famous stint in the 1980s as an editor at T.S Eliot's London publishing house Faber & Faber). Perhaps because the stakes were lower, as I wrote last year at my day job, I found Roger Daltrey's autobiography to be much more fun and readable.
