Saw one of those the other day. What's that pickup-looking thingy below the strings?

    It's a tug bar.

Used when you play with your thumb.

You grab the bar with your fingers.

Was on early electric basses because a lot of players plucked the strings with their thumbs.

    Take care, stay well.
I have decided to be happy because it's good for my health.

Now that’s a good looking bass. If they made a lefty, I’d buy one today.

I refuse to bow down to tyrannical manufacturers of guitars. I won’t play their right handed models. Gadzooks, man, how could you suggest a flip?!!!!!

Nah, I’d get a righty but the cutaway makes it nearly impossible to reach the neck up high.

Just playing devils advocate -----no offense intended.

My sources tell me this model is slated for demise----it used to come in 3 colors-- for 2019 only 1 is listed -- the Lake PLacid blue and butterscotch are selling online USED for MORE than the new blondes......(crazy) so this was a pleasure and hopefully future profit investment :)

I was just joking, VK. I almost bought a righty Roger Waters Precision.

    True!

I really like him, and I think his Amused to Death is as good as the best Pink Floyd albums.

If I had a nickel for every time I've picked up a LPB '51 P, I could buy a couple venti darkroasts from Starbucks. I wanted the later split bar pickup though.

Loved the tele headstock on those, they inspired me to look for a 1.5" nut rosewood fingerboard version.

I had 3 homemade;1 type P’s at one point in time. They’re a very cool bass, so long as you don’t expect them to sound like a normal P!!! I found them to be especially nice for Blues stuff. Congrats 👍
