    Fender Amps: ALNICO or Ceramics?

Did many of the black faces use Alnico's (Aside from CTS in Supers)? What about the Browns?

Yes, the earlier browns, up to 61, used alnico speakers. I've seen 61 Supers and Concerts loaded with Jensen P10Qs. By 62, everything seems to have gone over to Oxfart ceramics. Occasionally you'd see a Jensen ceramic.

I personally MUCH prefer the sound of alnico speakers. They really smooth out due to the compression when you drive them hard. My gigging amps all have alnicos.

I definitely prefer the alnico's specially webers although the celestion v10 sounds nice & thick!

I love alnicos, which are in all my amps. I even put a set of Jensen P10R RI's in my '66 Super Reverb and it sounds so much better than the old CTS's that were in there. I love the Jensens!
