About the eternal "how do I beef up my strat" issue

I was reading about Tony Iommi's technique and style, and came across this:

    https://menga.net/richs-bad-guitar-l...-sabbath-sound

Good tips, indeed. There's a section of the article entirely dedicated to SSS strats.

Well, with Delta Tone (or the amp's treble knob) I don't need the DigiTech Grunge pedal. Compression is ok, I don't really miss it, but I do have a Boss CS3 in my board and it does help if I try it.

One thing I'm thinking of experimenting is running my pedal chain through the dirty channel of the amp, with just a tad of amp gain. I mean, I always do all the dirt with pedals, overdrive and distortion, through the clean channel of my Fender amp. Maybe some amp gain will add some testosterone to the mix.

    Whaddya guys think?

Strats fatten up in the amp. Additionally, take off the reverb and substitute it with delay, which will add "bigness" to the sound. Another big helper is to mic the amp and play through the mains.
