You’re giving me Ric fever.
If we'd known we were going to be the Beatles, we'd have tried harder.--George Harrison
V-E-R-Y nice! Rickenbacker has never tried to be anything but Ric.
Two jacks?
Yeap, mono and stereo
Hell Yeah Sergio!
That is wicked sexy!
What happend?
Who let the magic smoke out?
Nice Ric, Always wanted one never even played one...lol Enjoy!
I haven't explored that feature myself ywt, but I'll do a review here as soon as I do!
Otherwise, the guitar is very interestingly modern and old school at the same time.
This model began being produced back in the early 60s and was called the 625, featuring a vibrato and a plainer tailpiece. Around '77 they renamed it 620 and issued the stopbar and the "R" tailpiece, a modification often made by owners that seems to have become a claim that the company listened to.
The pickups are hotter than the traditional "toaster" ones, and sound more "rock and roll". I think I could say that the 620 is a more "Rock and roll" Rick, lacking a better term. It growls more than a typical 325, with its solid maple body and the hotter pickups.
Through my tube amp it sounds thicker than my SSS stratocasters, but definitely not as blunt as the Gibsons I've played. It has more bite and melody than my 61RI SG, for instance.
The other thing that really got my attention was that the body-thru neck gives it more sustain than I've ever had from any other guitar I've played with a set or bolt neck.
Stays in tune quite all right, I really liked the Schallers on it.
Very cool guitar! I have a stereo Carvin DC150 from the '80s. In that guitar, using only the neck pickup jack (aka, "main jack") is mono. Using both jacks is stereo. In stereo, each pickup has its own jack. Plugging one into a Fuzz Face and the other into a wah sounds great! I think it was Kap'n who told me that Jorma Kaukonen did this.
The Carvin is all maple and is not as heavy or as bright as I expected. It sounds great and sustains for days. Although it's not heavy, it feels dense, like furniture.
Thanks everyone!
Yesterday I took it to the studio to play with the band, so I got to listen to it through bigger amps than my home use one.
Great rock instrument indeed. It's VERY bright, and has a lot of punch without being too "thick". Exactly the kind of tone I needed to contrast my strats.
Just a quick cell phone shot from the studio rehearsal with the band.
Very nice👍🏻🎶Congratulations!
Very nice Sergio!
I love the necks on those guitars. Slinky!
I sure don't need any more gas but it HAS been decades since I've last tried a rick
I got a biker club gig schaduled for next Saturday, and I'm planning to bring these two:
I'm sure they'll sing pretty well together.
