    57 Custom Twin - Volume

New to the forum so I hope I'm not going over old ground. I purchased a new 57 Custom Twin, the low powered version. I previously used a Custom Vibrolux 40w playing in bars/pubs on a volume level of around 3.5. The 57 Twin at the same watts needs to be on just north of 9 in the bright channel and perhaps could go a bit higher. Do any other users of this amp know if this kind of volume level is about right?
    Thank you.

Sorry, misread. Somebody here will answer this I am sure. I'm guessing speaker inefficiencies are haunting you. My EC Twin (40 watt) will crack glass on 5.

Thanks for the reply. That's useful to know and kind of what I expected from the Twin. I've called Fender support who have vowed to look into it and call me back. Still hoping for some users to comment.

If all else fails there are several members on the mothership, The Les Paul Forum, that have these. I'm sure they could help.

I don't have any solutions but yeah, something doesn't seem right about that. I've been wanting one of the low power tweed twins they had about ? 10? 15 years ago. haven't tried any of the new ones yet. my local GC doesn't seem to rate high enough to get anything good sent to it.

Both channels the same. Took the amp to a technician, nothing wrong with the valves etc. Noticed the manual says you can swap the 2 x 12AY7 pre-amp tubes to match the other 2 x pre-amp tubes (12AX7's). Tried that so 4 x12AX7's and the amp came to life! Considerable increase in headroom and more clarity. Who'd have thought...
