I'm not sure what you use one for, but it looks cool!

Neato! A Wavy Line Generator! Dad used to have one. I hated it because when I saw it it meant the TV was gone for that day...

    Re: New toy!

the father of a friend of mine used to work for Raytheon at the missile factory. He had a most excellent workshop in the basement. Oscilloscopes, rheostats and all sorts of cool electronic stuff. That was where I listened to FM radio for the first time. One day we heard this utterly unworldly stuff that went on and on. No idea what we were listening to. Years later I heard Hendrix's "Are You Experienced?" on vinyl for the first time and recognized it as what we heard that day.

My friend passed away from diabetic complications a couple years ago, only a couple months after his father died. He had been living across the state and we lost touch for quite some time. I was surprised to learn too late that he was back in town. Not long afterwards I saw activity at the old house and there were benches and electronic cabinets being taken out of the basement, reminding me of our days of playing with his dad's equipment.

He he, we use our phones for that now. Funny how times have changed.

I remember using the adapter to put a Polaroid camera on one!

I didn't know there were any of those left. You need a Triplett and a Simpson VOM to go with it.

I think it will be a long time before I have to have one!

Guitars, amps, pedals, strings -- heck, even straps -- can catch my fancy. A gizmo I don't understand? Less so.

I'm a big fan of gizmos that I don't understand (might be why I like MESA/Boogie amps). I'm happiest when learning something new. Even this morning- learning how to connect my boiler to the generator. That was a good time for me!

I know what you mean. This looked like such a good idea when I found it. I found where it sounded best to me and glued the dials and switches and sliders in place...

Then I found out it had them in back too! Got's to get more glue!

Nope. There's a switch that turns THAT on. I glued IT down to save glue! There's only so many horses left oot there!

The older Boogies with less knobs were tougher to dial in. At least the channels on these newer amps are independent!

    Re: New toy!

I’ve been trying to dial mine in for ten years.

I do know a whole ton of settings that range from mediocre to really bad.
