    Writing Songs on a Bass

For a couple of decades, I've had a riff that has been going through my head, but I'd never played it. It started going through my head again last night, and I knew the Ric was the bass I needed for it. I started playing the riff, and within a few minutes, other things came to mind, and before too long, I had the music for a song.

Of the many songs I've written, I don't think I've ever written a song on the bass. This one just flowed quickly and easily, and if it comes out the way I want it to, it's going to be a really original rock song.

Have any of you ever written a song on the bass?

My favorite composition came from a bass lick that was a warmup exercise.

I don’t think I’ve had an original idea in years.
    What happend?

I’ve only ever written riffs or licks, not a complete song. I have a hard time playing bass and singing at the same time! Might sound weird but it is really hard for me.
