Don't expect anything as pretty as TJ or Don build, but thought I'd post a few pics anyway!

Very cool Bill.
What speaker is that smiling back at me?
What happend?
Who let the magic smoke out?
Look's good to my eyes... Clips?
Nice! I like the colors and the wiring looks clean! How do you like the sound of it?
Niiiiiice!
The two-tone tolex looks very good!

I used an old JBL D-120F I picked up back in the summer, yeah, it's heavy, but really a great "full" sound!
After finding a chassis in brown powder coat, I thought the brown/blonde would compliment it.
It does!!!
Is it a Weber Chassis?

No TJ, it was from a place called Tube Audio Supply, (found it on the bay).
My only complaint is the relabeled "ground" switch has "standby" in the wrong position. I debated rotating the switch, but it just wouldn't be right having "On", and "Standby off", in different positions!

Weird! Yeah, I'd be bothered by that too.

Very cool! I'm just curious though, is it really necessary for a standby on a tube rectified amp? I thought the rectifier handled the warm up? Or is it an extra feature deal?
I've always really liked that color combo, I have a custom Matchless Lightning clone with tooled brown leather sides and a yellowish center.

Didn't Hartley Peavey fight for years that at audio frequencies, standby switches were unnecessary. Finally he started putting them on his tube amps! I like them for short term use, (like a break). Then the amp is ready to play when you get back on stage late, and everybody started without you!
The original 5E3 didn't have a standby, but did have a ground switch. I put one on this build just because there was a place for one!

Don't want to start a fight and probably shouldn't say this but...
There is no need for a standby switch here.
You are not hurting the tubes by turning the amp on and off.
They start soft without the standby switch.
But, in this situation it most likely doesn't make much of a difference.
Eh, Nevermind me.
What does that JBL sound like when it's full cranked and hollerin'?

I wasn't trying to start anything, was just asking. You guys know WAY more about this stuff than I do.
I love your amp! Really dig it 👍

Shoot, didn't mean to implicate you chuck.

No no my man! I didn't take it like that, I was just trying to cover myself!!!

I have a VK 212 that has a standby switch, and the manual tells one to engage it before turning the amp on.
This was Hartley's idea!

Awesome! 👍 Appreciate the link, I always enjoy learning new stuff!!!

I too am curious!
Our "gig" Saturday was in my sister in laws living room, so things were pretty quiet. Also, I'm anxious to hear the "tweed" sound in cathode bias. When Christmas company leaves, I'll get my workbench, (kitchen table) back, and can replace the resistor to get the bias down. I played it in "fixed" bias, with the NFB engaged, probably more of a "Brown Deluxe" than a "Tweed".
