Steel and Brass
I just purchased a 2015 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster. The specs. say that it has chrome plated brass bridge saddles. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that somewhere there must be chrome plated steel bridge saddles. I'm not talking about an unplated stainless steel alloy saddle, but simply a steel saddle, with a chrome plating applied to it.
Arguabely, general consensus would say that unplated brass saddles produce a warmer tone, than unplated steel saddles. I tend to personally believe that to be true, but that's just me. However, if in fact that was true, wouldn't chrome plating both the brass, and the steel bridge saddles, equalize their tonal qualities? Or, would the chrome plated brass saddle still exhibit softer tonal qualities than the chrome plated steel saddle, and why do you think that would be the case? Clear as mud?
Thanks for any comments everyone............................Dave
