    Tweed Champ Fidelity Question

I built a Mojo Tweed Champ in a 5E3 cab with 12" ceramic Jensen - sounds awesome with one issue.

Played clean, no FX, if I roll the tone way back on the guitar, as the note dies off I can hear a fuzz. Not a good distortion fuzz but a kind of trash like electrical residual of the note. Kind of like a bad tube. But Ive swapped tubes, cords, guitars.. played the same set up through different amps - it seems to be this amp.. and of course you cant hear it the tone up.

Ideas? Is this typical of 'class A' amps?

That is not typical. Have you tried a different speaker?

What makes you think speaker. because I have not tried that yet? - - I dont have any way of easily swapping - plugs are different on my 8 ohm stuff.

Just because it's usually easy enough to try. Is it a new speaker?

no, its not new. maybe 6 months of use 6 years ago. has been sitting in the basement in a box. Jensen C12Q I think it is. Its been 'cranked' maybe 10 times in its life. It sounds fantastic in this amp.

I had an issue during my build with either a bad 6v6 or plugged in wrong (yes you can shove a JJ 6v6 in wrong!.. I think). I blew one of the resisters (480ohm off pin 8).
