    Article on Jimi Hendrix's stratocasters

This isn't new, but I'm sure some of you haven't seen this article before... A kind of "myth busting" article about Jimi's strats

I liked it a lot, and was surprised to see that it's published by Gibson in their website:

Always said it's 95% the man playing and 5% gear. But what do I know?
I forgot what I was going to say...

Yep...all the high end guitars mean nothing without the fingers and soul of the man!

Yeah, and there's also a great deal of hype about the 60s and 70s guitars, they weren't considered "super vintage historic pieces of elven crafted magic tone 8th wonders", they were merely decent instruments that artists would pick, play, mod, lose, have stolen, fix with epoxy, burn onstage...

Actually I've seen many a dude say that they bought a Gibson or Fender back then, and didn't really care for it, sold it for pocket money (one of them to buy marijuana and Jack Daniel's ) and regret today although they never would have thought these guitars would ever be "cult".

The Gibson ES-355 semi hollow I saw the other day was 70s, and it was perfectly made, exquisitely so.

I wouldn't say the contrary. All I'm saying is, people fetishize times, objct and countries, and sometimes that leads to myths.

I'm NOT saying that those were bad guitars, no no

    Totally agree with you, Sergio.

We do fetishize such things and often buy them for the myth rather than the reality.

The man could create magic with any guitar in the world!
