strat bridge install on MJT body

I just got my MJT strat body and went to put a bridge/trem block on it. The 6 holes in the body do not line up with the holes in the bridge. Uh-oh, is this one of those vintage spacing vs modern spacing things?

The bridge and trem block I have were purchased a year or two ago, I was buying parts as I found them in classifieds, and yes i was looking for bargains. I seem to recall this was an upgraded trem block, possibly a callaham. The trem block isn't the issue but the bridge plate holes are.

I've built a precision bass body from MJT and the bridge holes on that were perfect, not a problem at all. This is my first from scratch strat build (well, I didn't fabricate the body and neck, but you know what I mean.)

I'm inclined to think I have the wrong bridge plate for an MJT strat body. What should I be looking for?

    That's what it sounds like.

There's a significant screw-spacing difference between "vintage" and "modern". Unless you intend to re-tap and re-drill the body to fit the bridge plate you have on hand, you'll need to order the bridge that the body's holes are designed to accommodate.

yes, sir, that is exactly the situation. I've got a vintage spacing bridge (2 and 1/16") and a modern spacing body (2 and 7/32".)

learn something new all the time, ayuh.

You've got that backwards. 2-1/16" is modern spacing and 2-7/32" is vintage. You need a vintage spaced bridge for that body.

    +1

That's Fender P/N 0992049000 (chrome) or P/N 0992049200 (gold). These are complete assemblies and include the saddles, claw with pre-soldered ground wire, steel block, springs, trem arm with white tip, string tree, screws, and allen wrenches to adjust the intonation.

    oops.

BTW - what's with Angela parts and their 2 3/16 spacing spec? Bad information on their part?

Some places refer to the vintage-spec spacing as 2-3/16".

    That's the correct bridge plate.
