    Fender Frontman 212R

A friend gave me one the other day, & even so he is still my friend.
This thing is so bad I have to assume it must be broken. The sound is akin to a swarm of gnats. Nice pair of 12" Eminence speakers, at least.
Does anyone else have any experience w/these? I promise not to humiliate you for it.

I've played one in the store - sounded OK there. But I suspect that at gig volumes it would show its true gnat1like colours.

It's been my experience that most SS amps sound like SS amps at gig volumes.

Exceptions - Roland JC120 and Vox Pathfinder.

I had a Fender Champion 40 for awhile until it died - and it was OK but my Blues Jr. is 10x the amp for small clubs.

They used one at a jam I played at once - it sounded surprisingly good.

the right pedal(s), person playing etc. no reason it couldn't be a good back up or extra amp if it was working right.

of course, depends on what your expectations are too.

Every Fu-Manchu 212 I've ever seen came OEM with a pair of green-labeled eggrolls. I suspect the Emi's were someone's attempt at an upgrade.
