    NGD, well, two weeks ago

Been wanting another Strat since selling my AMSE Butterscotch a few years ago. I wanted a Maple FB and neck on the thicker side. Got lucky and picked this JV out of the local CL the day after it listed for $350. No fret wear, nary a scratch on it. Sounds very good, neck is fantastic, but the finish is thick! Can't shake the feeling I'm holding a toilet seat.

Comes with Schaller strap lock buttons which I had on my old '80s lightning strap my son appropriated.

Still, great guitar for the $$$. I think maybe a blue pearl guard will soften the all-white look.

Don't think of it as a toilet seat. Think of it rather as a modern shaped ceramic urn.

    It's a lovely guitar.

You might give the gold anodized pickguard a try.

I'd play it. Get one of those "Sanitized for your protection" sashes and your ready to rock and roll! I kid. I have no Strat. I envy you. And the white rocks.

Chalk one more vote up for the tort pg.

I myself would rather keep it as it is. White strats are BEAUTIFUL.

I had one of these for a while. It played and sounded great! I love the all white look! The finish was thick! It was as if it had been dipped in marshmallow Fluff!

In the end, my Hwy1 Strat with USACG neck, Fralin pickups, Callaham bridge and other mods, was a better guitar so I sold the JV.

I wish I had kept mine - it had a VERY unique neck - different from all of them I have tried - and got it online new - but marred.

I can't touch the deal you got on yours but I will say........trade - trade - poof -
it became a 7up green Claptoonian Strat!

is the neck on yours satin?
I rubbed mine out with lemon oil and it became glossy - Like your hand had been on it for 10 years - very quick! Then the burnish/rolled edges a little bit at a time - and it seemed like in a year - it felt like I had played it for twenty years - without the fret wear.

I will own another - I liked it. Prolly not in white next time - for me.

2 tone - with aged pearloid I think

Looking good. The pic takes the guesswork out of it. My first inclination was toriseshell. The neck is unique and between the "vintage hardware" and neck there's a lot of potential there. I'm finding the pickups to be a little on the harsh side but haven't played with height adjustment yet. Just got the neck relief and action where I like it, sort of medium.

The neck isn't satin, but gloss and oh so smooth.

Last night I had the house to myself and practiced at volume the songs our band is going over Thursday night. I traded the JV and mongrel Tele back and forth. The Tele is an '84 USA but with GFS "fatboy" or "fatguy" single coils, a stripped and shaved body and the OEM top-loader.

Probably just more comfortable with the Tele but I preferred it. Had to put it down and stick with the JV before starting to adapt to the differences.

Going to give it a while to get used to it and see where I go from there. I do want a Strat available and for the money this was an easy in.

I liked the raw stratty sound - it was a good sound. the med jumbo frets are really nice -

I lucked out and had a friend who had an 8 hole pickguard - traded for a USA bridge pup I had in my bag o stuff. the neck had a nice soft shallow v/c mix up to the 5th fret that transitioned sweetly into a shallow c between 5-7 it felt almost like a concentric bevel on the back of the neck - and really fit my hand nice.

That said - I had a friend with an early one in vintage white with a much more pronounced V like back - not sharp - but more defined and another with a HUGE neck - like an early SRV, but with a pronounced but shallow V. They can really vary.

Good Lord and Butter. At practice the other night I took the Strat and my 5F4 and it was a fine thing. While the drummer and bassist were working out patterns for Big Head Todd's version of John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" I sat next to the amp (on a stand), and with the switch in the neck pickup position just worked out my place in the jam. Could not believe the sounds coming out of this setup. Just about had an eargasm.

    I like it.

Last installment in this thread. Just a minor cosmetic change and we're good to go. By the way, that's my grandfather in the pic. Wish I'd met him but he passed too early.

All you need on this guitar is vintage (cream) pickup covers

I love Gilmour's with the anodized pickguard. It's a lovely looking white guitar, so if you like that look. The tort looks great already. I am partial to white with the gold anodized.

No, just since '95. Left for three years but came back.
