To me, the solid pastel custom colors (Shell Pink, Daphne Blue, Sonic Blue, Seafoam Green, etc) look better when paired with maple furniture. By contrast, the metallic custom colors look better with rosewood.

I play maple fbs, but I like the rosewood a lot on that Strat. It's bootiful.

I have thought these things as well, but the Fender Custom Shop has confused me on the matter. I like looking at a CAR '57 RI

Nothing wrong with a '57 Strat in CAR......nothing at all.

I'm ALL about gold anodized guards on a CAR Fender... Been rocking that combo with my Jazzmaster for the past 10 years.

I recently learned that some '59 Strats had 8 hole mint green 3 ply guards and Maple boards. After learning this I've been seriously contemplating a NOS Taos Turquoise/maple neck/mint 8 hole guard Masterbuilt.

I'm guessing it could be special ordered.

I know it ticks all my boxes!

8 hole mint green 3 ply? Shoot, I would have gone for one of those on my candy apple green build.

Heck, it's the 21st century. No reason at all you can't have one like that. If they won't make it for you, you can order the parts from somewhere!

That's always an option. I've got a quart of Oly white lacquer and a light ash body that's been patiently awaiting for my time for two plus years now. Haven't found that time yet...
