    New Header

Just put up something temporary to symbolize "new life" for the TFF.

Kenny will undoubtedly come up with something much nicer, as he did with the Les Paul Forum, that I will load in its place.

By the way, for those who are interested, that is a 1959 Strat and a 1952 Tele from my collection.

    Rock on guys!

Nice guitars Mike, but a bit of a shock.

I've been here since '07 and we've never known anything except for the original masthead.

    I s'pose it'll grow on me......

Is it gonna be like what you did to the LPF? That turned out rather nicely.

    +1!

I still have to manually set and wind my watch. And I never quite mastered the task of setting the clock on my VCR.

Don't worry, Ranger. The change at the Les Paul Forum was handled very well. Mike let everyone know well in advance, he even put a scrolling banner across the main forum page to let everyone know. None of the functionality was altered, as far as I could tell. The aesthetics were changed a little but not in a drastic way.

Kenny is right. Updating the software is necessary, if for no other reason, but to enhance security.

    My point of view:

1- changes will always be welcome as long as they don't make things harder for the older members.

    2 - lovely guitars, Mike!!!

3 - please, don't make the layout too modern, leave the Magneto font on the header, as this place always felt like a warm welcoming old salloon!

4 - Good to see you guys really won't shut down TFF! Yeeeeehaw!!!

Try reloading the page. If that doesn't work, clear your cache and log back on.

Word of caution: If you clear your cache will lose any settings and remembered logins on other websites, too.

Smitty, I'm gonna run away and go live in the woods! No...wait.... I do live in the woods. Never mind.

Oh, I did take a peek at the LPF site. Took ten minutes for it to open up on my ancient system and when it did I didn't stay long. Sure did smell a lot of cork there. Didn't look like a place I'd like to be so I left and went to bed. Sure, I had a '58 LP once when it was about 4 years old and they were selling for peanuts as no one wanted them much in those days. Life's become too dog eat dog and far too complicated now. Think I'll go have me some lunch.

Edit: I'm starting to get one of those bad feelings now... I'm not sure I'm gonna like what's gonna happen. Lunch was great, but I'm feeling sorta dizzy and gonna go lay down now...

Roger, I got one that stays wound as long as I wear it. Dat's hi tech huh? Still gotta wind the pocket watch though... But I quit setting the VCR as everytime I run the microwave when the heater's on the breaker will pop killing the power to 2/3rds of the house.

I'd say to just give it a fair chance. I was on LPF before the upgrade and after. Seriously, in the background there were probably numerous improvements, but from our perspective as users, there were only a very few cosmetic changes. All the subforums that were there before were still there. the overall organization of the forum was retained, as well. Using the forum really didn't change as a result of the upgrade. Mike had been doing a few changes that improved the usability prior to the software upgrade, but those changes really had nothing to do with the upgrade, itself.

The forum had an overall gold against black look before and Mike kept that general look. Mike changed the header, some of the icons for the subforums were given a new look, and the font was freshened up a bit, too.

So, don't sweat it, too much. I do hope, however, that your computer won't choke on it.

As do I. Trouble is, I'll go for days without wearing the damn thing. So I gotta shake the hell out of the sumbitch to wake them Swiss elves up whenever I need a "tactical" timepiece.

I like how you incorporated the Fender logo. Nice touch.

Yes, the guitar looks cool and that is nice bit of graphics work. Very professional.

I also like how the photo isn't just some stock photo pulled from somewhere. It's an actual member's (in this case, the Admin's) guitar.

    Re: New Header

OK. Guess that since I'm on dialup and have a computer that is looked upon as antique it may be sometime next year when I see these changes no? Like I said, I'm in the Twilight Zone here. Nothing works as it should. House wiring has a mind of it's own. Roof leaks at times and then not. Never seen a complete single YouTube thing here ever. Got armadillos and skunks probing my defenses for the coyotes and wild boar in the area. They even use scorpions as sappers to get into the house and attack me. So if my computer doesn't pick up on a new header, then that's the least of my worries I suppose.

Sounds like grist for a pretty good C&W anthem along the lines of Tim McGraw's "All I Want Is A Life", Ranger.

I had a Telecaster like that once. Very high action around 10 to 12
