Wood on that red 335 is just awesome!
If a 335 were within my price range right now. Gibson is producing those in lefties, those and LP Customs, this year. But I'd be pretty happy with an SG standard too.

ES-335s are not even close to my price range and when I have enough money they'll be even more out of my price range!
Ya'll are aware that threads like this add to depression. Yes, it's true and is a clinically proven fact. When those less fortunate and underprivileged view these things they often suffer from depression and despondency. Some become withdrawn from society and retreat to secluded locals and display semi-hermit like behavior. A few even show signs of paranoia and mistrust of those more fortunate that possess such numerous treasures. Sad indeed to see folks suffer with this condition..... Good thing I live alone with my dogs and cats surrounded by tall trees and the woods and far removed from civilization with guns strapped to me all the time.
I forgot what I was going to say...
335's - meh. After visiting factory watching them build them, that is one WAY overpriced guitar. They're plywood bodies formed in a press, the other parts are all machine made and the paint isn't special at all. Nothing is handmade on that guitar except the binding. Built just like an import.
Next time you're on Beale Street, the factory is one street over towards the river. They do tours all day.
All IMHO, YMMV.

OA, you're right. I've taken that tour and seen the work. But that doesn't stop me from wanting one.
However, I'd be just as happy with an Eastman.

I love the 335's for what they sound like.
However, I wouldn't buy one, because they're big guitars, and just like the SG, don't feel right for me. If I had to buy one like that, I'd probably go with a higher end Epiphone Casino, better bang/buck balance...
Anyway, you guys are right: Gibson guitars are awfully overpriced (although they ARE excellent guitars). I really don't see a valid point in spending 3x the price of a Am Std Tele on a les paul std.
IMHO it is like paying premium price for about the same quality, plus some plastic bindings.
A buddy of mine has a red 335 with block inlays. That guitar absolutely sings, and it's got a great feel. I dream of one of those in a lefty.
I also have a thing for Gretsches (RJ!!!!)
But what I need right now is a double cutaway solid body. My band is playing some high gain stuff, and I need the power of the humbucker, without the chance of feedback I'd have with a semi-hollow.

I'm gonna issue an executive order if ya don't stop. And just ignore that black SUV with the tinted windows parked in front of your house. Means nothing. Really, they're just monitoring traffic is all....

A friend brought in his ice tea bust over flamed maple Les Paul for our bi-weekly lunch jam yesterday. The pull towards its history and styling was strong!
I had my Carvin with me and was able to resist. It's styling isn't for everyone (though it looks much better in person), but as I've said whenever I get a chance to- it covers Les Paul sounds really well and feels a lot like a Fender due to its lack of a neck angle. The tune o matic style bridge is recessed into the body.
Do epiphones count?
They Are "Gibson adjacent"
and this one goes BOOOOOM!
