I made it out of 1/4" threaded stainless steel.
I thought the threads would hurt, but they don't! And it makes it much easier to play. I usually grab it with my pinky. This way it grips super well!

That's a good idea.
I'm probably going to have to bend some stainless rod myself as I can't locate the earlier style Gotoh VSVG arm for my Hamer Daytona.
I wouldn't do any Pete Townsend style windmills around that thing!
...seems like it would give a better grip.
...for looks maybe knurling or checkering would be more stylistic?
...hmmm, I don't use whammy bars. I don't even install it on my tremolos...err, vibratos.
