    Paint Over Stain Question

I oil stained then did an oil wipe varnish. I'm over it and want to lacquer over it. Am I stuck? I thought I read someplace that you can only lacquer over water based stain, true?

I think if you sand the varnish and use the right primer, the surface will then take lacquer paint just fine. The primer would be the key.....

Yup. WASH that sucker in acetone. A couple of times, even, & use a soft bristle brush, too, one that can stand up to the acetone. Brush w/the grain of the wood.

OK - sand it all off - scrub it with killer chemicals - prime, paint.

What is the word on ReRanch paint?
