A Christmas Squier CV Tele question

    Happy Christmas to you all.

I've got some questions about the Squier CV Tele.

    1. Used value: for a virtually unplayed CV (no bag 'er nuthin'), would you consider $225 a deal? A steal? Just okay?

    2. Is the body routed to take a larger pickup at the neck? A P-90 or humbucker?

There's a nice looking CV locally on Craigslist, and the guy is asking $250 but has been trying to sell it for a month. I may grab it next week if it's a good deal and can be modded to take a different pickup at the neck.

BTW, on the second question, I saw a pic here in TFF of one of the 60s bound sunburst models sans pickguard, and it was routed for a bucker... the 50s is probably the same body blank, no?

EDIT: the search I should have done earlier reveals that I asked this same question about the neck route back in May when GC had one cheap but not cheap enough. So, never mind. Looks to me like $225 for a like-new CV Tele would be a good deal, and the bucker/P-90 install would be cake.

Sorry for the wasted bandwidth. Merry Christmas! I'll post next week if I buy it.

Well, a P90 doesn't really fit into a PAF sized hole. so you may still need to do some routing.

With that in mind, a P-90 would probably be my last choice. I'm really more inclined toward a minihummer (like an old Gibson "New York") or a hybrid like the Lindy Fralin Twangmaster or Duncan PhatCat. Maybe even one of those Charlie Christian repros!

But I'd no doubt play the guitar as is for a while.

Too bad. I'll never get to bang Catherine Zeta Jones and probably never get to drive a Top Fuel car, but playing a P90 Tele isn't too far behind either of those!

Yep, that's what I was thinking....

But i realized that I was actually considering buying a Squier guitar that I hadn't even played and already had modification plans for it. I can't go there. :) So I took a pass.
