Any thoughts on these? I played one last week and rather liked it. Pretty straightforward but, as always, it is good to hear what others have to say.

"The beauty and profundity of God is more real than any mere calculation."
I've played one in the store too, Doc, and liked it - but though it says Fender instead of Squier, I didn't think it was 'enough' better than my Classic Vibe to justify buying it...
But it does look and feel sweet!
"I'm gonna find myself a girl
that can show me what laughter means
And we'll fill in the missing colors
In each other's paint-by-number dreams..."
The American Special series I've picked up were all nice guitars. I've only tried the Strat variants but both styles were nice guitars. I don't really see where Fender did the cost cutting on these to price them lower than American Series instruments. I actually prefer the vintage hardware over the modern.
In the end I have the same issue already stated. Nice guitars but my CVs hang right there with'em for about half the cost.
But resale on the American Specials may be a bit better in the long term.
fabulous rock tele, similar to a 70's tele. Prefer the American Standard when it comes to playing clean or twangy.
