    Mid rangey room???

I have a little room in the garage I made into sort of a sound booth. Too small to be a studio, but ok to record in.

The problem I have is it is really hot in the mid range.

The way I can tell is I put my guitar amp in there and the settings I've used for years sounded like junk. To make it sound good, I had to bring up the treble and drop the mid.

Would this room be ok for vocals?

how did you "make it into a sound booth"? A bunch of carpet or foam, is not the right answer.

What that does is kill highs so the overall EQ that you want to hear is really altered.

Anyway, how it sounds to the mic is what's important.

A dead little space can be good for vocals in some applications.

    Re: Mid rangey room???

I have not recorded in there yet to see how it sounds. I need to get motivated to test it.

    What I did was this:
The room is a small 6'x10' room.
I have a bunch of my photos in 11"x14" frames. I put them in checkerboard pattern across the walls and alternated them with foam. On the other side of the wall I repeated the pattern in an alternate fashion. So on one side of the wall is a photo, and directly across the wall is foam.

I also have a table, book cases, etc. lining the walls.
The floor has carpet, the ceiling is bare.

I had the amp so it was going across the short side of the room, but rearranged the room so points down the long way of the room and it sounds much better, but I sill have to cut the mids.

I guess the real test is to sing some vocals in there and see how it sounds.

I post photos if you think it will help.
    Thanks!!
