    Classic Series 50's Stratocaster

OK - looks like a great guitar and a good value.... so which color?
    Daphne Blue
    Fiesta Red
    Surf Green
    Black
    Two Color Sunburst

.... I'm personally torn between Daphne Blue, Fiesta Red, and Surf green... and there is no option to pick several :)

    so what do you think?

Of your choices, I'd say Daphne. It happens to be the first one listed too.
The amber tint on the neck is way overdone.
    Kinda' unapealing.

My least favorite is the red.

I'm now thinking it's either Fiesta Red or Daphne...Daphne or Fiesta...etc. ad nausea (nice link Neo gotta agree with you there)

(Phantom I'm with you on that beauty you have there... my Gibson ES333 is a two tone burst so I'm going to spread the man cave spectrum)

    Re: Classic Series 50's Stratocaster

I'm with PM here, two tone burst + maple is the classic 50s Strat color combo.

If I had to choose between solid colors I'd go Fiesta.

I got a thing for red, but all my solid painted guitars (except for a lone black Strat) are are all candy colors. So what do I know!

One thing to consider, solid color MIM (and MIC) Fenders seem to have thicker finishes if compared to sunburst or see through finishes.

The finish on my blue MIM Cray was much thicker than my three tone burst Cray. Same thing with a white JV Strat I had as compared to the JV burst I owned. JMHO

To be fair, even the blue looks saturated in the Daphne shot too. It could just be the phtot. I wouldn't neccesarily expect one to really look that way. You never know.

I like 'em all. It have a slight gripe with red, based on my struggle to remove it from my schecter and its headstock. Silly, I know.

Gotta say, I like 2-tone bursts way moore than tri-tone.

That Daphne Blue looks very appealing to me, two-tone Sunburst is very nice as wel and the chances are that the wood is a little better and the finish less thich, both are big ++++ for the two-tone. Still Daphne Blue is my favorite Fender color.

I'm a sucker for those pastel colours, but if I was getting another strat I'd go for the 2 tone 50's sunburst.

Good choice Ron ~ best Classic '50's colour in my opinion.

Even my mate Gary who's over 100-miles away in London bought a brand-new "Surf-Green" one (before the price rises) to accompany his Olympic-White U.S.A. Standard

As I'm Left-Handed, I (sadly) don't have that option, or else, I'd've bought a "Surf-Green" one years back

Wow that's sharp. Did that come with a 3 position switch? Seems like I played one in '01 that came with a 3 position switch.

Call me old fashioned, but I think I may like the 3 position switch better. First off, I'm not to crazy about positions 2 and 4. Secondly, I tend to bump the switch into while strumming, and I think a 3 position switch may stay in place better. Currently, I play without the little white knob due to this.

    Re: Classic Series 50's Stratocaster

The guitar came stock with the 5-way and since it was a decent one (Oak-Grigsby) I left it in situ. The only remaining parts that originated from "south of the border" are the neck and the body. The hardware is all vintage-spec MIA Fender, the tuners are single-line Kluson repros, and the pickups are DiMarzios.

Classic Player's 50's Stratocaster Fiesta Red has arrived! Perfect Shipping, Set Up, and waiting for me to get offline and play for a couple of hours this evening. Tried it before dinner and it played quite nicely. I did name her "Rosalita" "she's a real cutie, a Mexican Beauty" (thanks for the words Jimmy Buffett) - Assembly and finish is fantastic, tight neck pocket and I really like the vintage tuners!

I have an old Squier Strat with that same color combination. It is in need of a nut, and that pic makes me want to build a Classic 50's clone out of it.

I tried a two tone sunburst today at the store, and i fell in love instantly. It plays really well! the bridge was set up kind of floating. Can you adjust the springs to get it tight to the body? Sorry this will be my first strat

    Re: Classic Series 50's Stratocaster

Some folks like the two point trem on those but they are usually trem users. I actually prefer the vintage style trem because I do not use it. I tighten down the 6 screws and springs to lay the bridge flat on the body. You can do the same thing with a two point trem but there's only two knife edges holding/clamping the front of the bridge to the body versus 6 screws on top of the bridge with a vintage style.

If the guitar really speaks to you then by all means go for it. But I'd think unless you were going to actually use the trem a vintage style bridge would be more appropriate for a hard tailing a Strat.

    Re: Classic Series 50's Stratocaster

yeah exactly, i was a bit puzzled by the two point trem... but i really like the whole guitar a lot, like, really a lot. If i really don't like it, i'll plug the holes i think and install an vintage style trem. But i'm kind of used to trems and so on... as i said, to me it plays really well. and i prefered it to any other strat in the store at twice the cost. Only seen good reviews of it. I think i'll buy it tomorrow...
    Thanks for reply :)
