    I think because at the original price point of $199, they were kind of expensive compared to other SS amps, didn't have channel switching, etc.

    They weren't around long enough to know if they had reliability issues.

    They showed up, soon the prices were slashed, which seemed to generate a lot of attention. Pretty soon they disappeared.
    Loud Technologies bought Crate and Ampeg at around that time. Not sure it was both at the same time, but it was fairly close.

    I've been carrying my Powerblock as a backup for a long time too. Now it is my main amp. I'm so surprised at what I was missing by not gigging it. It's a great amp and I get some great sounds at any level with my M13 plugged into the front of it.

    My back up is now wither a Pod or V Amp.
