    Pickup switching ideas

    Hey dumbasses.

I've written about this Tele before: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...g?t=1275920031

I really love the P-rails in it but am ready to rip out and replace the Triple Shot switching system. It plain sucks. Seymour Duncan ought to be ashamed of themselves. When I was installing them my first impression was that they were cheap, flimsy garbage and I was proven right within six months.

So here's the deal - I'd like to be able to get these sounds out of each P-rail pickup:
    1. P-90 alone
    2. single coil alone
    3. series humbucker

Ideas on switches and where they could be located? I'm not wild about push/pull pot switches, but perhaps someone could make a persuasive case for them.

I'm sort of thinking of a mini toggle on either side of the main selector toggle in the LP position. I don't believe I've ever seen anything like that before and I suspect there might be a good reason.

    Weigh in, dudes!
    s'all goof.

I think you need a TPDT on/on/on switch to do this.
    Several guitars in different colors
    Things to make them fuzzy
    Things to make them louder
    orange picks

I have 3 mini-toggles on my Schecter Strat, installed where a 3 or 5-way switch would be. They're the sole means of selecting p'ups.
    They're on-off-on.
    1st pos = full wind
    2nd pos = off
    3rd pos = tapped
You can mix any combo you like.
Using this setup is second nature to me.
If using the SD switches wasn't a hassle for you, you should adapt to mini-toggles easily.

Placing them by the toggle would seems make the most sense.

    Curtis-
Here's an application of P-rails with mini-toggles on a production guitar.

Sounds like a perfect job for a rotary switch. I'd get a three pole four way and add out-of-phase. Plus, chicken head knobs are tre cool.

Or on the other hand, I would consider using Les Paul style controls with push pulls. The idea of blending a neck humbucker with bridge P90 on a Tele is intriguing to say the least!
