    MIJ Telecoustics

Does anyone else have one of these? I've got a pair of Japanese made Telecoustics (one black & one natural). They came out in the early 90's and I think they're fantastic guitars! They are a set-neck design and they don't have that terrible plastic back that the new ones have. One of mine is mahogany on the back and sides and the other one has a lighter coloured wood (almost looks like spruce). Both have solid tops with a stylized oval sound hole. They're slightly wider and deeper than a standard Telecaster body shape and they have a 2-band EQ & volume on the side of the guitar. I use them on stage because they're more durable than a standard acoustic and I don't have to worry about feedback nearly as much. Does anyone else have any experience with these guitars? There seems to be very little information about these available... (see my av for a view of my black Telecoustic)

don`t have one of those but...I have a Fender Japan teleacoustic with a Blue Lace sensor in the neck of a semi hollow bound mahogany body with a solid spruce top with an F hole. It has an acoustic type bridge with piezos and strings go through the body. Bolt on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. It is a really cool little guitar, slightly wider than a regular tele. Love it, lots of fun dialing in both pickups.

Nice. I remember those well. That model came out a few years after the original Telecoustics. Kinda of a different piece... but still very cool!:nelson

I don't think they made many of them. I've never seen anybody else use one.

Very similar, in fact! I seem to remember them being listed in the Custom Shop catalogue for a short while after the MIJ Telecoustics were discontinued, but I've never actually seen one. Thanks for showing me that link! Very cool. By the way, my avatar is a photo of one of my Telecoustics.

I saw a couple on eBay. They went for a lot of money. I could not afford them..

I got one of mine when they were a current product in the Fender line. The other one (the one in my pic) I got years later.
