    Blues Deluxe/Hot Rod Deluxe question

ok...this one took some real brain power..but how the heck does the pilot light bulb come out? I cant get my fingers around it tight enough to pull it out....or is that the problem? Is it simply a push in bulb or is it a push and turn type bulb ?
I looked on the web and have found no info at all.

Push and turn with your thumb. They are sometimes a bit of a bear to get out but they will eventually release.

Thanks Cat....I did try that, but didnt want to push/turn too hard...I assume to release, it would be a counter-clockwise turn?

yep, and on most amps it take a fair amount of pressure to release the d**n thing. My supersonic burnt out and was a bear to get it out.

Some times its faster to just remove the darn back panel and grab it from the inside.
I had one once in a Jap amp that a guy had put in a shorter bulb of some sort and I could not grab it from the outside or inside, I had to dig into my automotive vacume tube supplys to find a size of tube that fit tight over the nose of the bulb and let me push it and and twist it out.

Less, some Radio Shack stores still carry them.

    Off topic, but maybe not.
I got into a good working relationship
with the Big Mall RS store manager that stocked up on
those "tube guy" things they still could order.
6.3V bulbs, very good pilot assemblies, fuse holders, Switchcraft
jacks (yes, they do still have the heavy ones...somewhere...),
Carling quality switches, 60/40 Lead rolls of solder...etc.
And some cool looking 1/4" screw on knobs.

I stocked up, he restocked, I kept stocking up.

Damn, wouldn't you know it...he is now gone.
The new manager says "We are out, might be in next week", but never is.
He is making room for some lightweight BS like more cell phone doodads.

I might be one, but I know there were more than me buying all those tube related parts.
They are throwing away an entire base, where I (and probably WE) will never
    bother with RS ever again.

    Question about Blues Deluxe...
Have these amps had any enhancements in recent years? Like the past 5 years. I thought I read that Fender may have updated some things about the same time the HotRod IV came out. Asking because if I buy used, I'd like to still get the latest enhancements, if any exist.

Yes, there have been slight improvements over the years. The Hot Rod IV for instance has a solid pine cabinet instead of particle/mdf

    Speakers might vary too
