    AC/DC Highway To Hell

Opening A chord. Supposed to be a power chord? If so, how do you fret it and then work with D/F# bass line? Just wondering...

I'd say it's an open A power chord plus the higher A on the G string. I can't really hear the C# on the B string, nor the high E open string.

It's actually somewhere in between that and Standard. I suppose they just turned up and shouted, "Somebody give me an E!", and tuned to that or something. Or they may have decided to slow the tape to change the tempo. Queen's Hammer To Fall has a similar issue.

I play it as a bar across the D, G, and B strings with my first finger, playing the open A-string and muting the high E. I then fret the F# bass note with my first finger, muting the A-string in the process, while fretting a D5 chord at the nut position (high E-string is muted again). The last chord I play as a G5; middle finger on the bass string 3rd fret, A-sting muted, open D and G-strings, third finger on the B-string 3rd fret, muted high E.
