This guy has 40 red white and blue shoe strings, a thousand telephones that won't ring and a Strat.

Another great songwriter, but he also had his own influencial rhythm style.

    Oh, brother.

Yep, that's the "Top Chef" guy... he once appeared on the cover of a magazine that Neo brought to my attention... some kind of "I only buy petro-buck instruments and hang them on the wall" thing that is to guitar playing what "Cigar Aficionado" is to tobacco... a celebration of becoming the kind of douchebag who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

More of one of the the old bald-ish British guys:

I won't be getting any more like this as he's finally banned
the use of "cameras with removable lenses" along with video.

    That's a 50's Strat.

It's really something when you factor "famous" into a Google image search.

It's not a very exclusive club.

At least Blair had good taste in guitars. Gordon Brown doesn't know shit about Stratocasters.

    Good Lord!

    I hope he's a better guitarist than a thespian.

I can't stand him, but he's an able guitarist, apparently really into the blues.

Direstraits--great Knopfler photos. Looks like he's growing a set of manboobs, and he used to be a thin bloke.

Must've been some kind of fund-raising auction for the St. Joseph Center. He's a big liberal, and we do love our charity fundraisers.

He was in a TV movie called "The California Kid," so I guess that's his connection to the guitar he's holding...although I have no idea why they chose to name the guitar for a 1974 TV movie instead of one of his more famous flicks. (Well, I can understand why they didn't want to put "The Dead Zone" on the fretboard of a Strat, but otherwise.... )

Edited to add: That custom Strat was definitely inspired by the movie. Still strange, though.

I see Clapton and Knopfler are using the 99 cent Dunlop Lok Straps these days. I got some and they are much cheaper than switching to full strap lock systems. They work really well.

Dunlop has a newer model out, the Ergo:

Thanks. A shame about the railing but I was 3rd row balcony.

Yeah, he'd put a bit of weight on between the Shangri-La tour & the Kill To Get Crimson Tour !
