I know my dimarzio area's dont. I just dont like the way the brand new plastic looks on my broken in guitar - so if I could use the original pickup covers and still go noiseless - that would be nice.

I can't say about the VN's, but I know the covers on the SCN's are permanently affixed to the bobbin. It may be necessary to artificially "age" your VN's existing covers while in place on the pickups.
