    Double Eagle Strat?

Here is a Strat I built in '86 from spare parts, I played it up until '92 then gave away to my brother to sell to get some money as he lost his job, fast forward to 2009 while lamenting about the gear that I have either sold lost or gave away over the years it accrued to me that I didn't know for sure wether my brother did actually sell it, a quick email an low and behold he says he's still got it and I can have it back, after thinking that this guitar was long gone I can't express how good it feels to have it back after 17 years
Now my question, The make of the body and neck escapes me, I think it was something like Double Eagle, It has Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro Pickups, CRL+CTS pots and switch, Schecter brass block, but can anyone remember a company called Double Eagle?, I remember I was impressed with the accuracy of the neck when comparing it with a reissue Squire at the time, thanks for your help.

Sorry I didn't make my self clear, The guitar was made out of spare parts and I was trying to remember the name of the company who made the body and neck, I'm ptretty sure it was a Japanese company, it wasn't Schecter or Mighty Mite, it was around the midd eighties when I built it so what other makes were around at that time, for some reason Double Eagle does sound familiar to me, can anybody help?

    Nice lookin' Strat.

Looks to have some checking going on and some very nice fret work on the fret ends.

Doin' a quick search for "Double Eagle Guitars" brought up this ad for parts on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Double-Eagle-gui...item35a4ac1aad

SO there definitely is a "Double Eagle" company out there. Whether or not they made your parts is hard to say.

Did you check under the hood at all? Most aftermarket companies have some insignia or logo they place in the neck pocket. I'd be checking that out if you haven't already.

Yeah, that looks Double Eagle logo looks familiar thanks for finding that, There's no markings other than a date on the neck heel, It was sprayed by Roger Giffin (Kew Gardens England) after I saw the Clapton Live '85 video, he made his blue Strat, it's been stored in a cupboard for many years it's checked and aged very nicely, it fools anyone who sees it as being a Fender, all genuine wear and aging, no Relic/Road Worn Strat here

    Re: Double Eagle Strat?

Hello Hambone. I have just recently seen your post about the Double Eagle Strat which you own. I have a similar guitar which I bought secondhand from ABC music in Surbiton, south west London in 1982.
The guy in the shop said that it was made from parts bought from a company called Double Eagle, and for many years that was all I knew about it's origins.
Since the arrival of the internet age, I have come across a few references to this company, but there's not much info out there.
Yours is the only other D/E partscaster that I have ever heard of.
Mine is a fantastic guitar, better than almost all the Fender strats that I 've come across since I got mine. I have owned several other Fender stratocasters over the years, but I've never kept them because they didn't match up to the D/E.
I have a custom shop 335, a '65 Casino, a '67 SG, and a '62 Silvertone thinline and the D/E strat is as good as any of them.
It has a nitrocellulose lacquer on a 3 piece ash body.
I'd post some pictures, but I don't know how to do it on this site.

Well, that seemed to work. It has medium jumbo frets on a 9 1/2 inch radius neck, which was unusual back then. The nitrocellulose finish on the body was also another plus. It has sunk into the wood a lot since I got it, and there is also a lot of checking. The neck is thin skin polyurethane, which I happen to like.
I don't know what the pickups are, but the last strat (Fender) that I had was fitted with Bare Knuckle Apache 's, and I preferred the one's on my D/E.
