    Another new chord-

So I'm running through some chords in the dominant family & I get to a C11 voicing:
    xx5766
    but I accidentally play this:
    xx5576
It sounds familiar & yet altered so I write down all the notes involved:
    G-C-F#-Bb
Then I take each note & imagine it as the root & figure out the relationships the rest of them have to that root.
Am I headed in the right direction? Is there an easier way to do this? I feel like I'm missing something that is right under my nose-

    Re: Another new chord-

sharp 5 would mean there's an F natural in the chord.

    Re: Another new chord-

How's that, since the key of C doesn't have any sharps or flats in it? An F natural would be the four, right?
    I did screw up w/the F# though; I think it's supposed to be a b5.
I'm looking at it like so:
    5.R.b5.7

    Re: Another new chord-

According to Chord Namer it might be:

    GM#9sus4__________G Major Sharp 9th Suspended 4th
    GmM7bb5__________G Minor Major 7th Double Flat 5th
    A#6sus2#5/G__________A#/G 6th Suspended 2nd Sharp 5th

By adding the C on the A string to "force" it to be C something:

    C5add#11add#13__________C 5th Add Sharp 11th Add Sharp 13th
    C7#11omit3__________C 7th Sharp 11th Omit 3rd
    C5addb5add#13__________C 5th Add Flat 5th Add Sharp 13th
    C7addb5omit3__________C 7th Add Flat 5th Omit 3rd
    GM#9sus4/C__________G/C Major Sharp 9th Suspended 4th
    GmM11/C__________G/C Minor Major 11th
    GmM7bb5/C__________G/C Minor Major 7th Double Flat 5th
    A#6sus2#5/C__________A#/C 6th Suspended 2nd Sharp 5th

sorry, got the note degrees mixed up. C E G F# Bb would mean a C7#11.

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch - get the Guitar Toolkit. Its 10 bucks but has a tuner, metronome, chord and scale dictionary - and a killer feature where you tell it the fingering on the fretboard and it tells you the chord that you are playing.

    "Oh, Mister D.J.,
I keep wondering why you don't play much blues anymore
I don't know what you got against me
Whatever it is, I sure would like to know"
