    Bad bridge pup

I was installing a set of used texas specials that I had laying around into a friends strat, and I dropped the bridge pup and I noticed that the pole on the 4th string moved, I pushed it back in place thinking nothing of it, got everything together and tried it out and everything worked fine but the bridge (little or no sound) checked it with a meter and it must have gotten shorted when I moved the pole back into place. Can I repot the pickup to fix this or is having it rewound the only answer?

It sounds like you've got an open (or nearly so) coil. If that's the case then re-potting will have no effect.

Have you measured the windings with a DVM?

Sorry to say phantom it's at .08 ohms, it must have rubbed the insulation off oh well I guess I'll be giving lindy a call send it in and have him rewind it to his 6.8 instead of the 7.2

    Wish it were better news.

    Best of luck.
