    Pickups - Tele and Strat

Hi guys, long time reader first time poster!

I'm looking to put a humbucker in my '62 Tele's neck position. I was thinking a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover, but am open to other options. I want a bit more 'chunk' in neck position, the Texas Specials currently in it dont cut the mustard I'm afraid. I play mainly blues and blues/rock. What do you guys think ?

Secondly, I came into a set of Seymour Duncan SSL-1's and was thinking about putting them in my thin skin '57 Strat - anyone done this, or have anything to say about these pickups ? The only mod I have done to this strat is the installation of a Callaham bridge, which was hands down the best money I've ever spent on the guitar.

    Cheers guys!

i think a seth lover, alnico 2 pro or something of that ilk would be awesome in your tele. something on the low output side of the humbucker realm.

doesn't the thin skin 57 already come with some nice pups? i'd bet they're the 57/62's. so the duncans may not be that much of an improvement over what's in there. just a guess. i'm sure some one else on here has a better answer.

how about a side by side humbucker like the seymour duncan little 59?

I cant tell you if ssl-1s would be an improvement, to find that out youll just have to put them in and see how they work in your guitar. FWIW those are nice pickups too. ESP puts them in their stratocaster and they sound good in that. Otherwise you may be looking at an excuse to buy a cheap but cheerful guitar just to put them in D:

If the walrus is Paul then who is Carmen Sandiego?

What amp you using? This can make a huge difference . I know a lot of players swear by TS Tele set and if your playing Blues they should do the trick.

I have mentioned Rio Grande pickups before or some Fender CS are usually very effective.

    Wow, thanks guys!

I will look into a few of the things you have suggested. I am using a Hot Rod Deluxe (unfortunately... its just too big for "inside playing"). Looking into a cheap 'bugera v5', but thats another thread..........

I have heard mixed reviews about the SSL-1's too.. I have the 57/62's in the Strat, and while I love them, they are very.. glassy and boomy - it's a hard thing to explain..

    Cheers guys!
