Good weekend to buy a Squier Classic Vibe Tele

It looks like the major online music stores are selling the Squier Classic Vibe '50's Tele for $315 this weekend. Please give me a good reason to buy a third Tele.

    Here are some I'm contemplating:
-A white one would balance well with my black one.
-Everyone on the forum says this is a great sounding guitar.
-My son's recording studio needs a good cheap Tele in the instrument arsenal.
-It may never be this cheap again.

    Any others?

Just play one. Thats the only reason you'll need.

Re: Good weekend to buy a Squier Classic Vibe Tele

This may be a cheap Tele, but it plays and sounds like a high-dollar one. I'm serious.

I got mine relatively early and had it for $209 shipped. Now $315 is cheap. If you wait what will you expect to pay then?

It's the guitar I have out at all times, that I bring with me to lessons, and that I use as the base sound to test amp builds. Starting to show a little wear (the pine is soft and dings easily), but I welcome it all.

There's very little worth upgrading, too. The tone cap in the electronics, and maybe a string nut if you want, the rest is pretty damn good. I personally removed the shielding wiring and put in a nicer tone cap and new switch, but didn't really find anything significantly improved. The response and touch sensitivity was improved a tad.

As GuitarMC says, play one. Really. Then play one with new strings of your choice (after you buy it).

more. the answer is always more.

not two years ago I was offered a brand new eric johnson strat for 1700 dollars from a local store tax included and I turned it down (sales tax in this state is 9.25%, which makes that a KILLER deal). At the time I was PISSED off due to a deal on a les paul I really had to have going sour and didnt think it through very well. I thought I would be able to find it same price any time I looked for one. Now the local places want north of 2300 dollars for them!

And this is after they introduced a new model which you would think would put the old one on clearance. Should have taken the deal when the deal was there and I think you should too.

If you want the guitar and have the money, sooner is better than later when dealing with new guitars. Actually I wonder if fender releases them for a low price to get people talking about how great they are for money and then ramps the price up to make up for that.

Seems like I asked this once but I forget the answer: is their room for a Humbucker up top on these?

Yes, and a P90, too! I think someone here did that to theirs.

    They are a nice blonde.

I brought one home yesterday........LOVE IT!!! I put a deposit on it a couple weeks ago and had the store tech give it a once over before I took it home. Toying around with it yesterday when I got it home I thought to myself..This one will be my main player.

Is this the ProTone Thinline you're talking about... great guitar (wish I hadn't sold mine but I thought the neck was too thin at the time )

I never knew how much a Thinline would grow on me but it easily gets as much love as the CV.

You must have one of each! Really different animals altogether.

I absolutely LOVE the '69 Thinline RI neck. Put one on my "Custom '69" parts-o-tele:

mmcquain, Yes that is the one i´m waiting for. Well, not that one but her sister!

I have a pro tone strat since before and that one is GREAT. Played it all yesterday at a session, every body complimented the tone out of it!!! It is as god as my ´79 stratocaster.

Hope this one is in the same league!!

It finally arrived. It's a christmas present for my son's recording studio, which pretty much gives me access to it all the time!

I love it with the Warmoth brown shell guard. The playability was perfect out of the box.

I know I have 3 screws in one of these drawers...

I just plugged it in - It sounds amazing. Quite shocking actually. I'll have to send some flowers to the Chinese lady running that milling machine.

That's a good shot showing the subtle grain on these...hard to capture.

That neck routing will also house a P90.

I like that pickguard -- it almost looks like tooled leather.
