    American Std. Pickups

Have you ever noticed that noone talks about switich pickups to American Stds?

I recently bought one of the new American Stds, and the pickups sound great to me. They remind me of the Texas Specials, but they seem to have a slightly smoother sound.

What do you all think of the American Std pickups?

Not bad pickups at all. I think Fender has done pretty well with the American Standard pickups since back in the early/mid '90s.

I'm happy with mine too. And I like the Delta Tone circuit.

I thought about swapping out the pups in my '87, but then I played it &... why? Sounds good to me.

I did axe the Delta tone because the pot was going bad & I couldn't be bothered to find anther one. Plus I kept it a "5" all the time.

I love the stock ones in my '08 MIA Standard. The tone pot to the bridge pickup is great too.

I've got an American standard and an SRV strat and the standards pickups sound weak and a little thin by comparison. However, I also have a 40th aniversary strat and it sounds awesone with the stock pickups. So I don't really know what to tell you. The American standards sound good on their own but by comparison, they offer a tad less growl than the SRVs. That said, I ain't swapping them out either, they sound good for what they are!

I have an 88 american standard and all but the neck pickup sounded sterile and plain, swapped them out for some handwounds. What i think is one thing but the look on peoples faces when they play my strat is priceless, no other guitar comes anywhere near.
