    OK, smart guys, answer this!

I mostly play Les Pauls but my brother gave me a nice '95 American Deluxe Strat couple of years ago and I have a question about it:

The tone knob has a point about halfway through where it sort of "sticks" and then it keeps going. The control seems to do what it's supposed to do, I'm just unsure if this is a feature or a flaw. Are any of you familiar with this?

Sounds like a TBX tone control. From 5 down to 0 would be like any other control 10 to 0, from 6 up to 10 adds a little high end presence.

Jesus, Electron, stop yelling at me!!!! I'm sorry I didn't know about the tone control! :lol2

he he he, just kidding. Thanks for the input! I usually leave it pretty close to wide open, so I guess you could say that I like my Strats on the bright side.

Interesting. My Am DLX Fat Strat does the same thing on the bottom Tone Knob (Humbucker) but it happens at about 8 on the dial.

I thought it was just a flaw. I always have the thing set at 10 anyway.

Could this guitar have a TBX on it? I don't think the 2001 model did but?

Brianf, I think what you have is the Delta-Tone system. From 1-9 it's a normal tone control, but when it's dropped in the notch it knocks the tone out of the bridge an gives a "direct plug-in" sound.

    To burst-king

I think you are right, even though nothing in the specs. about it.

I set it to 9 and played some open chords then put it to 10 and there was a fairly substantial sound difference.

Did the same thing playing single notes above the 12th fret and the difference was really evident!
